Care and support career pathway

The majority of the autistic young people at Prior’s Court live within one of our residential homes – many for up to 52 weeks of the year. The residential Autism Practitioner team at Prior’s Court are responsible for supporting the young people within their home and throughout the extended day timetable. This involves teaching them life skills such as preparing meals as well as leisure skills both on-site and out in our local community.

We have an Autism Practitioner fast-track scheme, designed to accelerate the growth of high-potential full-time, Day Autism Practitioners. Candidates will be supported and promoted to an Autism Practitioner Level 3 position within 18 months of their start date.

  • Autism Practitioner (Levels 1, 2 & 3)

    Autism Practitioners play a crucial role in supporting the autistic young people we support to grow and develop encouraging each individual to achieve their aspirations and lead fulfilling and purposeful lives.

    Whether supporting young people in the home, classroom, on an outside trip or settling down to read a bedtime story, you will build an enduring bond with each young person you work with and go home each day knowing that you have made a real difference to their lives.

    There is a "levels" system within this role based on skills, knowledge and experience, with salaries increasing through each level:

  • Team Manager

    Using your experience of autism care, as a Team Manager you are responsible for being a practice lead and for the day-to-day organisation of a team of autism professionals.

    Through role modelling outstanding working practices and providing coaching and mentoring you will support others to deliver excellent outcomes for young people aligned with their individual learning outcomes and development goals.

  • Assistant Care Manager

    As an Assistant Care Manager you are tasked with supporting the Care Manager who is responsible for ensuring the overall health, ellbeing and progress of each young person in their care and staff members too. 

    Managing a team of autism professionals, you will coach and mentor excellent practice and ensure that the provision of learning and care exceeds the quality standards as outlined by Ofsted/CQC.

  • Care Manager

    As a Care Manager you are responsible for ensuring the overall health, wellbeing and progress of each young person in your care and each staff member in the two homes you manage.

    Managing a team of autism professionals, you will coach and mentor excellent practice and ensure that the provision of learning and care exceeds the quality standards as outlined by Ofsted/CQC.

  • Care Lead

    Care Leads promote outstanding practice and guide Care Managers to deliver excellent outcomes for our young people and our teams.

    As the Registered Manager for several residential homes across the provision, each Care Lead takes key accountability to ensure that the standards are demonstrated and maintained at the highest level.

  • Director of Care

    All members of the Executive team are responsible for challenging operational management practices to ensure every young person and team member is being stretched to achieve outcomes beyond our imagination.
