News & events Amar’s First Year: quiet confidence and natural ability Amar has quietly made his mark in the bakery in his first year in 2025/26. With his strong set of literacy and numeracy skills a real asset for his learning. He can often follow written instructions with little assistance, though he sometimes needs a little support with the more hands-on baking processes. He occasionally rushes, but his enthusiasm and willingness to try new things are great assets Over the year, Amar has successfully helped to make a variety of baked goods – including muffins, bread, and rolls – and used a range of equipment. He’s developed a solid foundation of food safety, cleaning, and measuring, and has already begun working with some of the bakery machinery. Next year, Amar will build on what he’s learned, progressing to more advanced skills in line with our three-year bakery learning pathway. He’s shown he’s more than ready. The bakery at Prior’s Court is an industry-standard, fully equipped facility which supports autistic young people with complex needs at Prior’s Court to gain vocational skills. It isn’t just about baking skills – it is about work-readiness skills too. The bakery was generously supported by donations. See our current fundraising appeals Manage Cookie Preferences
