News & events Careers Day showcases the world of work to young people Our fourth annual Careers Day made a great return on Wednesday, 25 June. Careers Day at Prior’s Court is not necessarily about showing the autistic young people with complex needs that we support possible future careers for them. It is about young people exploring the world of work, what people do for jobs out in the community, and roles young people might not otherwise encounter. This year’s event saw a brilliant mix of interactive sessions delivered by both Prior’s Court staff and external guests. These activities provided a window into a wide range of working environments, from public services to creative industries. External supporters who helped with the event included: Thames Valley Police, including PCSO Paul Smith who who gave out copies of a book called PC Ben written by his colleague, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, our catering supplier Sodexo, Newbury Buses, and musicians Dylan and Louis Each visitor brought something unique to the day, offering insights, demonstrations and hands-on experiences that sparked curiosity and engagement. Young people could also access a wide range of activities provided by our staff members from across our teams. This included: Our on-site bakery team providing a cake decorating activity.
