At Priors Court, we believe that every autistic young person with complex needs we support should be empowered to access the community and the experiences that any other people of their age would.

Recent holidays for young adults in two of our Young Adult Provision residential homes show just how impactful those experiences can be.

A countryside escape for Alfie, Brandon and Daniel

Alfie, Brandon and Daniel recently returned from a wonderful break in Somerset and Devon — a few days away filled with fresh air, new surroundings and plenty of laughter.

Their base was The Lazy Sheep Barn in Somerset, a peaceful setting that provided the perfect balance of comfort and adventure. From enjoying a barbecue together to unwinding in the hot tub, the group made the most of their relaxing surroundings. During their stay, they explored some of the area’s most scenic spots, including the stunning beach at Woolacombe, the Tarr Steps and River Barle walk in Exmoor National Park, and the historic Dunster Castle and Watermill.

Evenings were a chance to reflect and refuel, with meals out at local pubs rounding off each day’s adventures.

This memorable trip wouldn’t have been possible without the care, planning and encouragement of Charlotte House team members Tomasz, Daniel, Katarina and Desmond. Thank you for helping to create such a positive and enriching experience.

First holiday memories for William and Oliver

Meanwhile, William and Oliver from Robin Cottage enjoyed their very first holidays with us - and it was a few days to remember.

Staying in a house in Wimbledon for two nights, the pair had a full day of excitement at Chessington World of Adventures. The holiday also included a visit to a trampoline park, a cinema trip to see the Minecraft movie, and even a round of minigolf for William.

To help manage the change in routine, William and Oliver personalised photo book showing where they would be staying that helped the trip go smoothly and made each day more predictable and reassuring.

A big thank you to Robin Cottage staff members Freya, Gabbi, Michael and Eric for their dedication and support, which helped make William and Oliver’s first holiday such a successful and joyful experience.

Why holidays matter

For many of the autistic young people we support, holidays represent much more than time away. They are a chance to try new things, build confidence, strengthen relationships and enjoy experiences that create lasting memories.

We’re incredibly proud of Oliver, William, Alfie, Brandon and Daniel for embracing these new experiences, and grateful to the teams who make it all possible.
