One of Prior's Court's young adults has been given a huge responsibility but is very excited about taking on the challenge.

Young adult William has always loved working in our on-site Orchard and after a garden centre trip with the rest of the young adults in his residential home, William fell in love with a small cherry tree. The original purpose of the trip was to find plants to plant in the garden of their home, but once William saw this Cherry Sunburst tree he decided he had to have it.

William memorised all the information he could about the tree, including when it would flower and when it would produce fruit. William asked if we could get it for the Orchard as there wasn't enough room in the house garden for it, and his staff member told him to ask Maxine, who is in charge of looking after the Orchard. He did, and Maxine was very happy to include it among our existing apple trees.

William was telling everyone who would listen about his new Cherry Tree, he was very excited about it!

Once he had purchased the tree, William waited patiently for our groundsman to dig a hole for it and was telling the groundsman all about the tree as the hole was being dug.

Now the tree is planted, it is William's responsibility to look after it. Now whenever he goes to the Orchard, he checks on his tree to make sure it's thriving.

Hopefully, it will produce lots of cherries in the summer!
