The Piper Arts Centre played host to a memorable visit from the Orchestra of St John (OSJ), with musicians putting on live performances as part of the charity's Music for Autism initiative.

A young man looks at the camera. He is smiling and shaking some hand-held bells to make music. The visit brought the power of live music into our community, creating an inclusive and uplifting experience for everyone involved, with young people invited to participate using hand-held instruments.

The musicians performed in the Piper Arts Centre, our purpose-built creative space that plays a central role in life at Prior’s Court. Designed to support a wide range of artistic experiences, the Piper Arts Centre provides a calm, flexible and welcoming environment where autistic young people with complex needs can explore music, art, drama and performance in ways that feel comfortable and meaningful to them.

Previously, one of our training rooms was the base for performances by the OSJ's expert musicians, but having a purpose-built space in the Piper Arts Centre allowed young people to better engage with the visit.
