Young person Ryan’s sessions at the Piper Arts Centre have shown just how powerful imagination can be when it’s given space to grow.

In one session, with jazz-style music playing, and without needing a video or demonstration, Ryan began to create his very own dance routine – his own unique way to move and respond to the rhythm of the music. He followed the beat intuitively, developing his own pattern of movements and rhythm, entirely from his own inspiration.

This spontaneous creativity captured the essence of what the Piper Arts Centre is all about: giving young people the freedom to explore, to express, and to take ownership of their creative ideas. Ryan’s confidence and independence shone through, inspiring everyone around him.

And Ryan continues to be creative with his dance moves in the centre:

Why the Piper Arts Centre was built
The Piper Arts Centre was established to empower autistic young people with complex needs to experience the joy of the performing arts in a supportive, purpose-built setting. It’s a space designed to nurture creativity, communication, and confidence — celebrating every individual achievement along the way.

The Piper Arts Centre was only made possible thanks to the generosity of our donors, whose support ensures that creativity, communication and confidence can flourish for every young person who takes part.
