On a swelteringly warm Thursday, 19 June, young people in Summer House came together to create a vibrant and collaborative piece of art - right from the comfort of their home.

Spanning an impressive 2.5 metres, this colourful spray-art masterpiece was made using food colouring and natural materials collected from our Potting Shed. With support from their Autism Practitioners (APs), the young people explored their creativity in a safe and engaging way.

The team began by gathering leaves from the Potting Shed. These were carefully arranged on the large paper surface, and using spray bottles filled with diluted food colouring, the group worked together to spray and layer colour across the sheet. The technique not only produced stunning visual results, but also helped develop fine motor skills!

Once the leaves were moved and repositioned, the young people created a striking spray monoprint effect, revealing beautiful leaf-shaped patterns bursting with summer energy.

This project is a fantastic example of creative expression, teamwork, and the joy of sensory exploration. A huge well done to Sammi, our Land-based Vocational Instructor, and the Summer House team for their incredible work. We’re so proud of what you’ve achieved - and we're excited to shout about it!
