News & events Sports Day 2025 brings families together On Friday 1 August 2025, we celebrated a fun and energetic Sports Day at Prior’s Court – an annual event that always marks the end of the school year. Sport and physical activity play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of autistic young people with complex needs at Prior’s Court. Physical movement can support emotional regulation, improve focus and sleep patterns, and help to manage excess energy. It also creates meaningful opportunities for play, connection, and confidence-building. Through our Healthiness programme of learning, young people develop essential physical skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, and climbing. These activities help build body awareness, strengthen fine motor skills, and – importantly – offer moments of fun, achievement, and joy. Showcasing skills and sharing success Sports Day is a celebration of progress – a chance to recognise the skills and confidence developed over the academic year. Events included football, basketball, throwing and catching games, running races, jumping challenges, and an obstacle course, offering varied ways for young people to participate in ways that reflect their interests and strengths. Families were invited to join the celebrations, creating a shared, inclusive experience between young people and their loved ones – something we know is incredibly meaningful. Making the day extra special Thanks to the generous support of our Enriching Experiences Appeal, we’re able to make events like Sports Day even more memorable for the young people we support.
