News & events Travelling interactive theatre company Bamboozle pay a visit Young people at Prior’s Court recently took part in a series of performances from travelling theatre company Bamboozle. Their visit supported our Creative Arts curriculum in the Piper Arts Centre, bringing creative experiences into the school day in ways that are accessible and meaningful for every autistic young person with complex needs we support. Bamboozle specialise in interactive theatre designed for audiences who benefit from sensory-rich storytelling. Their performances encourage curiosity and participation, allowing each young person to engage in a way that feels comfortable for them. Performances in the Piper Arts Centre The day began with performances in the Piper Arts Centre’s dedicated theatre space. The show followed a Rocket to the Moon theme, creating a playful setting for young people to explore music and movement. Performers introduced instruments and played simple rhythms, inviting young people to join in. Some responded with clapping, smiling and energetic stimming as the music grew. Others chose to come closer to the instruments, watching carefully and exploring how the sounds were made. The theatre environment allowed young people to experience the performance at their own pace while remaining part of the shared activity. Taking theatre around the school To make sure as many young people as possible could take part, Bamboozle also brought roaming performances to different areas of our school. Performers travelled through classrooms and learning spaces, sharing music and theatre directly with young people in familiar environments. This flexible approach meant more young people accessed the experience in ways that felt comfortable and supportive. It was clear throughout the day that both young people and staff valued the opportunity to experience live performance within the school. Supporting our Creative Arts curriculum The visit from Bamboozle forms part of the developing Creative Arts curriculum based in the Piper Arts Centre. The programme is designed to give autistic young people with complex needs opportunities to explore creativity through music, theatre, movement and sensory storytelling. Activities are carefully planned so each young person can take part in ways that suit their communication style, interests and sensory preferences. Working with specialist performers such as Bamboozle helps bring new artistic experiences into the school. These moments support young people to explore creativity in ways that feel fun and accessible. As the Creative Arts curriculum continues to grow, we look forward to welcoming more creative collaborations to the Piper Arts Centre. See more Piper Arts Centre updates Manage Cookie Preferences
