Wilsan’s first year in the bakery has been a journey of discovery and progress. Initially, he found the structure of sessions challenging, but over time he’s developed not only new skills, but also greater focus.

In the beginning, Wilsan was often distracted and struggled with impulse control, particularly around food. But with consistent support and a tailored session plan, he’s grown in confidence and ability. He now understands the routine of work first, treat after – a milestone in self-regulation and understanding.

Wilsan has helped to make a variety of baked items including biscuits, cookies, muffins, and brownies. He enjoys rolling and cutting biscuit dough and is now working more calmly and with increasing independence. While he still benefits from prompts and guidance with machinery, he’s showing real signs of progression after just one year.

To support his progress further, his sessions in 2026/27 will be moved to a time that better suits his focus. With these changes in place, we’re confident Wilsan will continue to flourish in the bakery next year.
