Two Prior's Court young adults from our Robin Cottage residential home, Joel and William, have recently taken their sporting skills into the community by joining a disability cricket group in Reading, held at Bulmershe Leisure Centre.

The weekly Wednesday sessions are led by Chris Baker from the Berkshire Cricket Foundation, who shared his thoughts after their first visit:

“William’s batting, considering it was his first time with us, was fantastic, and Joel gave everything a go, which was great to see.”

Both Joel and William are supported by staff and use visual schedules to help them understand what to expect at each session. This approach helps ensure the experience is enjoyable and accessible.

Their involvement in the cricket group provides wonderful opportunities to learn new skills, socialise with different peers, and build confidence in a community setting.

Clare Maxwell, Robin Cottage Care Manager, said:

“It’s fantastic to see Joel and William accessing a community group, trying something new, and enjoying every moment. A big thank you to the staff supporting them each week to attend and engage.”

We’re incredibly proud of Joel and William for their enthusiasm and commitment, and we look forward to seeing how they continue to develop their cricketing skills.
