News & events Death of Chris Barrett DL, former Chair of the Board of Trustees of Prior’s Court Everyone associated with Prior’s Court is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Chris Barrett DL, former Chair of the Board of Trustees of Prior's Court. Chris served as Chair from September 2018 to December 2025, leading the organisation through a period of both significant challenge and important progress in education and care. Chris Barrett DL meets HRH The Princess Royal at Prior's Court's 20th anniversary celebrations in 2019 Dr Stefan Fafinski DL, current Chair, said: “Chris’s contribution leaves a lasting legacy, and he will be warmly remembered by all at Prior’s Court. He played an important role in shaping the organisation we are today. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.” Ryan Campbell CBE, Chief Executive, said: Chris was a profoundly caring man of deep integrity, with a strong commitment to public and charitable service, immense leadership skills, and a wonderful sense of humour. Prior’s Court will always remain grateful for his support to the management staff, his creativity and solidity, and his genuine and heartfelt commitment to the young people we serve, and autistic young people generally. Chris spent his professional career working in the marketing sector and dedicated a significant portion of his life to supporting good causes across Berkshire, including Berkshire Community Foundation, Thames Valley Adventure Playground, and the organisation he founded, Charity Mentors Berkshire. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire in January 2018. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and worked with him at Prior’s Court.
