News & events Harry meets Henry, Hetty and the rest on amazing factory trip A Prior’s Court young person has experienced a trip of his dreams all thanks to the support of dedicated staff members and a welcoming hoover factory team. Young person Harry has a passion for hoovers with his favourites being the Henry and Hetty brands. So, Harry’s staffing team, led by Assistant Care Manager Becky Aitken, got in touch with Numatic, the company which makes Henry and Hetty hoovers, to see if Harry could get a tour of the factory. The team at Numatic said “yes” and were extremely helpful in organising a one-to-one guided tour for Harry. Harry’s staffing team were sent over information and risk assessments to help plan the trip and make the day run as smoothly as possible for Harry. During the visit on December 13, Harry got to try out different hoovers, explored a museum and was shown the factory where all the parts were made. To finish the visit, Harry was given a goodie bag with books and gifts in it. Becky said: “Harry loves hoovers. But Harry would never have been able to visit somewhere like this before due to his challenges around anxiety. Due to how his anxiety has decreased and the progress he has made over the last year or so I wanted to be able to do something which he would really love and is a big interest of his. “He was so focused and engaged with the tour guides we had, listening, and talking with them. The tour guides were amazing, and the tour was taken at Harry’s pace, nothing rushed. “It was a joy to see Harry so engaged and happy and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the staff that went. “For me it was a pleasure to take Harry and organise this for him, just seeing the way he was there was lovely!” Harry's mum Sue added: "Due to significant sensory issues, Harry has often been unable to take part in events which we felt he would enjoy. "For him to have had such perfect tailored experiences this year, thanks to the kindness, time and dedication of the Henley House team and others around him, is absolutely amazing and something we could not have imagined only a short time ago. "The team see an opportunity and, instead of shying away from it, grab it with both hands with fantastic positive results. We are so grateful to everyone who supports every aspect of his life- Go Team Harry!" Read about Harry's recent theatre trip Manage Cookie Preferences
