Prior’s Court has joined an umbrella organisation that brings together a number of specialist not-for-profit organisations that work with autistic people.

Autism Alliance UK is working to campaign for improved outcomes and reduced inequalities for autistic people and their families by bringing together organisations across the UK, which now includes Prior’s Court.

The members of Autism Alliance UK work together to share knowledge, skills and experience and to influence policy and provision, alongside autistic people and their families.

The Autism Alliance manifesto Doing the Right Thing calls for the new government to truly change things for autistic people, focussing on accountability. This should include a strong voice for autism within central government itself, and mandatory autism training across all public services, as well as proper funding.

These calls from the Autism Alliance are complimentary to, and indeed have influenced, Prior’s Court’s suggested priorities for the new government.

Ryan Campbell, Chief Executive Officer of Prior’s Court, said:

All organisations working with and for autistic people have to add their weight as effective allies alongside the strong voice of autistic people and their families.  We need to present a vision of hope, and a route towards a more just society for autistic people. Accountability is a must now more than ever after yet another recent scandal of appalling abuse against vulnerable autistic young people in a school setting in the Wirral.
