News & events Phase 1 of play equipment project success – but more support needed to take appeal further The first phase of bringing brand new play equipment to Prior’s Court has been completed – with further donations needed to empower more young people to reap the incredible benefits of play. Thanks to the generous support received to the Play Equipment Appeal so far, the first pieces of play equipment have now been installed, giving autistic young people at Prior’s Court new opportunities to develop motor skills, play together and encourage physical development while being outdoors in a refreshed space. Donate now The appeal was launched to completely revitalise the existing play area at The Track (one of our main open spaces on-site), creating a more engaging and accessible environment for all. So far, a gravity bowl, a playframe, snake swing and a roundabout, which can be accessed while in a wheelchair, have been installed in January. Young adult William is one person who has really taken to the new equipment. Gabbi, Team Manager in Robin Cottage where William lives, said: William has been really enjoying the new equipment, he likes to use it as a circuit starting at one piece of equipment and completing all the different items. He enjoys climbing high, swinging, and especially the roundabout. It has supported him to spend more time outdoors and keeping him both mentally and physically busy. Donate now With additional fundraising support from generous donors, further phases will mean more equipment can be added, expanding the range of activities available and helping to promote physical movement, confidence and enjoyment through play for more young people at Prior’s Court. Natalie Norris, Fundraising Manager, said: “The whole project is engineered to be installed phase by phase so young people can benefit from new equipment more quickly. We’ve reached the stage where to get the next phase down, more donations are needed. So please, if you can, donate to support more young people at Prior’s Court to reap the incredible benefits that play brings.” In phase 1, a new pathway has joined the equipment to the main path at the Track to make access easy, particularly in poor weather and for those with mobility difficulties. The plan is eventually to join all the equipment up with paths, funding permitted. Donate now Manage Cookie Preferences
