Three determined fundraisers have completed the Paris Marathon in support of Prior’s Court, helping to raise vital funds for our work with autistic young people with complex needs.

On Sunday, 13 April, Barney Hill, Brook Hill and Liam Scannell crossed the finish line of the 26.2-mile race, which took them through the heart of the French capital – through the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Élysées culminating at the historic Arc de Triomphe .

Each runner took on the iconic challenge in aid of Prior’s Court, raising awareness and funds that will make a real difference to the lives of the young people we support. For Barney and Brook, it was a deeply personal experience because their cousin Louis is a residential student with us.

Barney and Brook have raised more than £7,500. Their fundraising will go towards purchasing a quiet swing for use by the young people at Prior’s Court. Currently, all of Prior’s Court’s swings are in play areas or gardens, all of which tend to be noisy locations. Having a swing in a quiet location will be beneficial for young people who need some time away from a noisy environment to help manage their sensory needs and relax.

Meanwhile, Liam has raised more than £700, beyond his target, which will go towards our general funds.

Liam said: "I waskeen to run for Prior's Court as I recently had an autism and ADHD diagnosis. As a result the charity remains close to my heart. It was a great race and experience I would like to raise money for the charity again."

Making a lasting impact

Natalie Norris, our Fundraising Manager, said: "The funds raised through challenges like the Paris Marathon are a crucial part of enabling young people at Prior’s Court to live more independent and fulfilling lives. Whether it’s through funding specialist equipment or life experiences, the money raised helps ensure each young person can thrive.

"We are incredibly grateful to Barney, Brook and Liam for their dedication and generosity."
