News & events Young people sell artwork displayed at exhibition to support fundraising appeal Young people from Prior’s Court have successfully sold artwork exhibited at a local event, raising funds for our play equipment fundraising appeal while showcasing their creativity alongside professional artists. During December, four pieces of artwork created by Toby, Fredi, Dexter, Peter, Amar, Theo and Zak, young people at Prior’s Court, were displayed at City Arts Newbury as part of an exhibition featuring professional artists, collectives and creators from across Berkshire. The work was produced during Land-based learning sessions and selected for public display, offering the young people an opportunity to share their creativity in a professional gallery setting. Two of the four pieces were sold during the exhibition and, after commission, raised just over £100 towards Prior’s Court’s on-site play equipment fundraising appeal. The two pieces sold, Hunters 1 and Hunters 3, are pictured below: Sammi Yarwood, Land-based Instructor at Prior’s Court, who led on the artwork submissions, said: I spent some time sitting in the gallery with a coffee, watching visitors engage with the exhibition, and I can’t fully express how proud I am of our young people. Seeing their work displayed alongside practising and professional artists, and looking so at home in that space, was incredibly special. To also know that their artwork has contributed to fundraising for on-site play equipment makes the achievement even more meaningful. Huge congratulations to Toby, Fredi, Dexter, Peter, Amar, Theo and Zak. Young people at Prior's Court also currently have artwork on public display in the annual GENerate: Student Art Exhibition which provides a showcase of artwork created by students from West Berkshire schools, sixth forms and colleges and is being held at The Base, an arts venue in Greenham. The exhibition runs from Friday, 9 January to Sunday, 25 January 2026 and is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm. About pieces put up for public display All artwork made by young people at Prior's Court that is put forward for public display is chosen by the young people themselves. These are pieces they decided not to take back to their on-site residential homes, with families also opting not to display them at home, ensuring that the decision to exhibit respects personal choice while prioritising each young person’s sense of ownership over their work Read more news from Prior's Court Manage Cookie Preferences
