Last week, two of the young people supported by Prior's Court went on holiday to Centerparcs together. This marks the third and fourth Children's Home young people to go on holiday with their staff after two went to Blackwood Forest last year. Read more

Our annual Let Me Shine music festival made a return on Monday, 4 May with young people and their families, staff members and their families, and previous young people who attended Prior’s Court and their families all invited to enjoy the day. As the autistic young people with complex needs we support are unlikely to ever be able to attend a music festival, this annual event empowers them to access such an experience on their terms. Earlier this month, two young people from Prior's Court achieved something major - they went for hair cuts out in the community. For a lot of autistic young people, haircuts can be an overwhelming experience - this is all the more so with the learning disabilities and other diagnoses of the young people we support. Read more

Lower School young people from Bonsai Class, Willow Class and Chestnut Class enjoyed a trip to Lydiard Park in Swindon, with a clear focus on developing confidence when using money in a real-world setting. Read more

If you step into a classroom at Prior’s Court, you are likely to see a shoebox task in use. As the name suggests, these activities are built using a shoebox as the base, although a printer paper box lid works just as well. The activity is stuck to the top of the box, and the young person then has to insert symbols, words or photos on sticks, or coloured feathers (or similar) into holes in the box. Read more

World Book Day brought stories to life across Prior’s Court, with activities taking place across our Track, the Main School building, the Main Gym, the Potting Shed and the Piper Arts Centre. Each space offered something different, giving the autistic young people with complex needs we support the opportunity to explore books through creativity, play and sensory experiences. Read more
