We were thrilled to welcome back one of our largest corporate volunteering groups from Sophos, who previously supported Prior’s Court as their Charity of the Year. Over the past year, we developed a strong and valued partnership with the Sophos team, and we are incredibly grateful that they have chosen to continue their support through additional volunteering days this year.

On Wednesday 23 April, a team of 18 Sophos volunteers joined us to carry on a long-term project in our apple orchard. Their task was to help prepare the land for new fruit bushes—a vital addition to the space that supports our horticultural work stream for autistic young people with complex needs.

Working together, the volunteers cleared a 10-metre stretch of topsoil, laid down protective weed matting, and filled seven ton bags with removed soil. Their hard work is helping us create a safe, accessible, and productive environment where the young people we support can thrive.

The team also took on other essential outdoor tasks, including mowing, strimming, turning over soil, and weeding—jobs that help keep our orchard safe and usable for everyone involved in the horticulture programme.

It was a physically demanding day, but the team’s energy and commitment shone through. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces return, alongside new supporters keen to make a difference.
