A group of six hard working volunteers from Vodafone came to Prior's Court to continue an ongoing project started by CarneySweeney last month in our Countryside Learning Centre (CLC).

This group battled changeable weather conditions - which thankfully stayed dry while the group were working outside - to continue the difficult task of re-digging the Nature Trail which runs around the edge of the CLC. This trail provides a space where the young people we support and their APs can explore bug hotels, rabbit warrens, and a number of sensory plants, while also getting exercise and fresh air.

Due to the wet weather and time of year, the path has grown over, making it less accessible for the young people, particularly those who may have restricted gross motor function. by re-digging it, it ensures the ground is level and stable for the young people to walk on.

A group of three people move a roll of turf from the ground from where they have just picked it up. The turf is clearly heavy and they are working hard.

As well as this, the group also strimmed the edges of each of the paddocks, ensuring there were no nettles or thistles the young people may injure themselves on. They also strimmed the nettles from onside the goat pasture, allowing young people to go in to care for the goats without fear of being stung.

All of their hard work has contributed to keeping the site safe and accessible for the young people we support, and we are incredibly grateful for that.

A group of four people stand and crouch around a large white bag filled with turf and grass cuttings. They are looking at the camera and smiling, clearly proud of the work theyve done.
