BNP Paribas sent a group of 11 incredible volunteers to Prior's Court for an afternoon of volunteering, where they got to work weeding, hedge trimming, tidying, and continuing the path dug out in the Countryside Learning Centre started by the previous groups.

They all did an incredible job on all of these tasks, completing the weeding and tidying, and digging out another chunk of the path despite only being here for the afternoon.

Although weeding, tidying, and digging may seem like trivial tasks, they are incredibly important in ensuring the site remains safe and accessible for the young autistic people with complex needs we support. Our site is 52 acres, and being located in the countryside, it is inevitable that weeds become a problem. If ingested, many of these weeds can cause harm, either physically by stings or prickles, or some may be toxic. These volunteers weeding ensures the site remains safe for the young people wishing to explore.

Their work re-digging the path around the CLC creates a space where the young people and their APs can explore bug hotels, rabbit warrens, and a number of sensory plants, while also getting exercise and fresh air. Due to the wet weather and time of year, the path has grown over, making it less accessible for the young people, particularly those who may have restricted gross motor function. by re-digging it, it ensures the ground is level and stable for the young people to walk on.

As always, we are incredibly grateful for BNP and all the hard work they did to create safe and accessible spaces.
