Our education & residential care Our approach to learning Trick-or-Treating for Halloween At Prior's Court, we don't let the fact that our young people are autistic or that they live on site mean that they miss out on fun life experiences. One such experience being trick-or-treating for halloween! Every halloween, staff and young people dress up in scary costumes and go around our school building ringing 'doorbells' and receiving sweets and little toys in return. Instead of going to every residential home on site, having it all contained in one building means more of you young people we support are able to access the event, and having it somewhere so familiar helps to prevent anxiety and ensures they are able to enjoy themselves. To make this event more autism friendly, clear work activity systems are set up, which involves matching coloured card to various 'houses' set up throughout the school. At each of these 'houses', there is a doorbell which the young person rings if they would like to, they then match the colour to the board below and in return they receive something sweet or a small toy. This is a popular event every year and both staff and young people always have fun! None of this would be possible without the generous donations to our Fun and Recreation Appeal.
